Yogi government is preparing to build this new airport. This airport is going to be built in Nawabganj of Unnao. Following the instructions of the government, the concept plan prepared by the KDA under the State Capital Region (SCR) includes a proposal to make it.

According to media reports, this airport will be built at a distance of about 5 km from Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary. So that there is no effect on the Habitat of the birds. Recently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had approved the concept note on SCR on the lines of National Capital Region (NCR). Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is likely to be made the nodal body for making this ambitious project.

Three more cities Sitapur, Rae Bareli, and Hardoi have also been included in the SCR. Earlier, apart from Lucknow and Kanpur, only Unnao and Barabanki cities were included. Nawabganj Airport is also included in the proposed schemes under SCR. For this, at least 10 thousand acres of land will be required. Its marking has also started.

It is worth mentioning that Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials to prepare a proposal for the SCR, so that Lucknow and its adjoining districts like Unnao, Sitapur, Rae Bareli, Barabanki, Kanpur Nagar, and Kanpur Dehat can take into account the demands of the next 50 years.
