Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday announced that he is forming his own political party. The former chief minister said, he will soon announce the party’s name and symbol once the Election Commission approves it. At a press conference in Chandigarh, Amarinder Singh said, “The party will be formed after getting clearance from the Election Commission and my lawyers are working on it.”
Captain Amarinder Singh also counted the achievements of his government in Punjab for 4.5 years and shared it with everyone in the press conference. Captain Amarinder Singh said, “When the time comes, we will contest all the 117 assembly seats. Whether it is under alliance with any party or has to field its candidates on all seats.”
Talking about Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu in his press conference, Captain Amarinder Singh said, “Wherever he will contest from, we will field our candidate against him. Significantly, Sidhu has tweeted targeting Captain Amarinder Singh.” To this the former Chief Minister said, “He doesn’t know anything, he talks a lot, he doesn’t have a brain. I never spoke to Amit Shah and Dhindsa in this regard, but I will. I want to fight strongly against Congress, Siromani Akali Dal and Aam Aadmi Party and will talk to them and form a united front to defeat these parties.”

Earlier, in a series of tweets, former Chief Minister’s media advisor Raveen Thukral announced that Captain Amarinder Singh would announce his party today. In Raveen Thukral’s tweet, it was also claimed that if the issue of farmers’ movement is resolved and it remains in favor of farmers, then this new party of Captain Amarinder Singh can also forge an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Sidhu said in the tweet that you are thinking of closing the doors for me, because I am becoming the voice of the people and speaking the truth. He said that the last time the Captain formed his party, he was defeated, getting only 856 votes. The people of Punjab will never again compromise on the interests of Punjab. They will punish you by defeating you in elections.
