As soon as the election for the post of Congress President was announced, the political stir in the Rajasthan Congress intensified. State Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday made it clear that he will contest for the post of president. Since then the market of speculation about the next CM of Rajasthan has heated up, in view of which Sachin Pilot has started working for his claim. On Friday, Pilot met party MLAs in the assembly. It is being told that he has also called the MLAs of Ashok Gehlot camp.
Sachin Pilot had gone to Kochi on 20 September and had joined Rahul Gandhi’s India Jodo Yatra. It is being told that some important discussions were also held between the two. Pilot has also sought an appointment with Sonia Gandhi.
However, the race for the post of CM is not going to be easy for the pilot. It is believed that Gehlot does not like the pilot. Gehlot wants senior leaders of his faction to become the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. It is being told that Gehlot is in favor of making any of Dr. CP Joshi, BD Kalla and Govind Singh Dotasara as CM.
Earlier in Kochi on Friday, Gehlot said, “I will fix the date (for filing nomination papers) after I return (from Kerala to Rajasthan), but I have decided that I will have to contest elections. It is a question of democracy and let us make a new beginning.”
However, when asked about his successor in Rajasthan, he said that any decision in this regard would be taken by the current Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Ajay Maken, in-charge of party affairs in the state. Let us tell you that the Congress had issued a notification for the election of the party’s president on Thursday.
