According to the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the country’s capital Delhi is the most unsafe for women. Women in Delhi are the victims of the highest number of rape incidents as compared to other states. According to NCRB data, 1,226 rape cases were registered in Delhi in the year 2021. These are the highest number of rape cases registered in the year 2021 in the police stations of any state in the country.
Lowest number of cases in this city
At the same time, when it comes to the least number of rape cases, Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, is at the bottom of the list of NCRB. That is, women in Kolkata have to suffer the least amount of rape. Kolkata recorded the least number of rape cases with 11 cases compared to 19 metropolitan cities in India last year. There were 14 rape cases in Kolkata in 2019 and 11 in 2020.
This city of the south is also safe for women
At the bottom of the list, along with Kolkata, is the city of Coimbatore in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, where 12 rape cases were registered last year. After this 30 cases were registered in Patna.

At the same time, Jaipur city of Rajasthan is followed by Delhi in the city with the highest number of rape cases in the NCRB report. Here in 2021, 502 cases of rape were registered in various police stations. After this, 364 cases of rape under section 376 of IPC were registered in this list respectively in Mumbai, 165 cases in Indore of Madhya Pradesh, 117 cases in Bengaluru, 116 cases in Hyderabad and 115 cases in Nagpur in Maharashtra itself.
Rajasthan topped among states
According to the NCRB report, a total of 3,208 rape cases were registered in the year 2021 in 19 metros of the country. While talking about all the states, a total of 31,677 rape cases were registered last year across the country. Of these, Rajasthan recorded the maximum number of rape cases last year at 6,337, while Nagaland recorded the least four cases. At the same time, 1,123 cases of rape were registered in West Bengal.
