Manish Sisodia Returns To Tihar Jail, Couldn’t Meet Unwell Wife On 7-Hour Bail: Deets Inside!

Manish Sisodia’s wife, Seema Sisodia, was already taken to the LNJP hospital as her condition deteriorated before he arrived at their house, therefore he was unable to see her. The Aam Aadmi Party leader and former deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, returned to Tihar prison on Saturday without seeing his ailing wife. The Delhi High Court authorised the AAP leader to visit his ailing wife at their home on Saturday while he is being held in detention for suspected violations in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy. Around 10 o’clock in the morning, Sisodia arrived at his home and entered without addressing the press.

However, Manish Sisodia was unable to see his wife Seema Sisodia because she had already been rushed to the LNJP hospital as her health worsened.  Sisodia was given permission by the Delhi High Court on Friday to see his wife on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Manish Sisodia should avoid speaking with the media and keep his visit to his family and close friends, Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma underlined. He was also prohibited from using the internet or a phone. The court further ordered the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to report on the progress of Sisodia’s interim bail application by the end of the day.

The Court also postponed ruling on Sisodia’s request for interim bail, which was made in light of his wife’s health. It was also decided to hold over Sisodia’s usual bail request that she had submitted in connection with the suspected liquor policy scam-related money laundering case. The ED opposed the request for temporary bail and made a defence of it. Sisodia should be permitted to visit his wife while being escorted by the police, urged Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju, speaking for the ED. According to Bar and Bench, the ASG emphasised that Sisodia had previously handled a number of ministerial posts and did not find time to visit his wife.  The ASG further noted that Sisodia recently withdrew a request for interim bail, only to resubmit it shortly afterward with no discernible improvement in his wife’s condition.
