Bikaner Guwahati Express Derailed, 9 Dead And Over 50 injured, Rescue Operation In Full Swing

BIKANER GUWAHATI EXPRESS DERAILED.

Bikaner Guwahati Express derailed today in the evening near Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. The incident took place between the New Domohani and New Moynaguri railway stations in West Bengal around 5 pm. As per the latest reports 9 people have been declared dead and over 50 got injured. Out of these, 10 people are critical at present. In addition to this around 24 of the injured people are sent to Jalpaiguri district hospital and 16 to Moynaguri government hospital. However, the seriously injured patient will soon be shifted to the North Bengal Medical College in Siliguri.

As per reports, many passengers are still present inside the debris, stuck and trapped. As many as 12 Coaches of the Bikaner-Guwahati Express are derailed. Many passengers are still present inside the coaches. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is personally monitoring the situation very closely. He will reach the place of the accident by tomorrow morning. He also gives assurance to all the people via media that “we will fulfill all of our duties”. The minister also said that the medical team and rescue team have reached the spot and the rescue operation is in full swing.

CONDOLENCES POURS IN FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE BIKANER-GUWAHATI DERAILMENT

A high-level Commissioner Railway Safety inquiry is on the way to examine the spot and find out the cause of the accident. Chairperson of the Railway Board and DG (Safety) of Railway Board is leaving Delhi to reach the place of the mishap. In addition to this PM Modi, inquires about the accident with the West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee and also with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. PM also forwards his condolences to the victim’s families and prays for the recovery. Along with this, the centre announces an ex-gratia compensation for the victims of the incident. It includes a sum of Rs. 5 lakh in case of death, Rs. 1 lakh for severely injured, and Rs. 25,000 for victims with minor injuries.

Some passenger says that they felt a sudden loud shock. Suddenly everything rolls up and we all are flying in different directions. Some of the coaches tumbled down while some got to slip away from the track. The train started its journey yesterday from Bikaner junction in Rajasthan. It was about to reach Guwahati this evening.
